About the Author
Maanda Raphulu, affectionately known as Didi by close family and friends, was born on December 8, 1986. Raised by his mother in the township of Ha-Mashamba, Limpopo, after the passing of his father at a young age, Maanda grew up surrounded by his brothers and sisters. Among his siblings, he was always the quietest, finding comfort in solitude yet capable of being social when the moment called for it.
Maanda spent his formative years in Limpopo, where he attended school and cultivated a deep appreciation for his vibrant surroundings. Upon completing high school, he made the move to Johannesburg, relocating to various neighborhoods, including Hillbrow and Berea, before settling in Randfontein Greenhills, to the west of the city.
His educational pursuits led him to study management practices, supply chain management, and logistics at different colleges. For many years, Maanda dedicated himself to the retail industry, where he gained extensive experience and held several management positions.
Despite his professional commitments, Maanda has always felt a strong pull towards writing. He describes writing not as a choice but as a calling that chose him. Throughout his childhood, he found solace in solitude, where his creativity thrived. In his quiet moments, he jotted down ideas, thoughts, and fragments of stories, discovering the freedom that writing offered.
In his early journey as a writer, Maanda explored various avenues, including theatre, television scriptwriting, and poetry performances. Although he faced numerous setbacks and failures, his determination never wavered. He continued to write prolifically, producing poems, short stories, and fictional pieces. Over time, it became evident to him that writing was not just a hobby; it was an essential part of his existence and a reflection of his life’s purpose.
This realization spurred Maanda to share his work with the world, culminating in the publication of his first book, **The Ideal Future Marital System**. This achievement marks the beginning of a new chapter in his life, one filled with the promise of future publications and continued exploration of poetry and scriptwriting.
Looking forward, Maanda is eager to embrace new adventures, share his experiences through talks and discussions, and inspire others to find their own voices. He believes in the transformative power of storytelling and is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of those around him.
